Building Green; A New Standard

Two years ago a seemingly normal six-story building was completed in downtown Seattle. What's abnormal, however, is in that two year span that modern-looking building has produced 60% more energy than it has consumed. That remarkable achievement has garnered the Bullitt Center a Living Building Certification.

From the outside, nothing about the Bullitt Center looks revolutionary

The Living Building Challenge pushes builders and architects alike to create structures that actively aid in improving the environment. This is a far more difficult certification to achieve than the current LEED standards. As such, the Bullitt center is likely the most efficient building in the nation, likely consuming 50% less energy than the next leading building.
