Shoe Covers Keep Your Floors Clean

Floors are the most commonly protected finish in commercial and residential construction projects alike. Areas with high foot traffic are typically most often damaged, and therefore should be most often protected. To that end, the quickest, cheapest, and easiest way to protect floors from damage is with shoe covers. 

We carry a variety of shoe covers, covering multiple price points and different uses.

Polyethylene - or plastic - shoe covers are the most popular water-resistant floor protection there is. That's because these shoe covers are very affordable, and extremely quick and easy to use. Sized to fit XL workboots, these shoe covers securely fit a vast majority of shoe sizes. Because they're made from durable plastic, these are reusable and easy to clean. Pairs of 10, 50, and 150 are available.

Cloth shoe covers are ideal for short-term use. Whether that is temporary use for showing a new home, working in a medical or lab setting, or any other primarily indoor application, cloth shoe covers are the most cost-effective way to protect floors and feet alike. Protecting Elevators With All-Protect

Protection for the interior panels and the exterior jambs of elevators is one of the most common requests we're asked. Commercial builders have struggled for years keeping their elevator cabs clean and scratch free. 

Because elevators are a variety of sizes, no standardized surface protection product has been made to protect them. However, with new All-Protect, elevator surface protection has become simpler than before.

All-Protect is an adhesive liner that can be applied to a wide range of finish surfaces. Soft on top, with a spill-proof adhesive liner on the back, All-Protect offers both impact and scratch damage protection. Because All-Protect is soft to the touch, there is no need to worry about the material damaging the surface it is protecting. It is easy to cut to size, and due to its adhesive it can be used on both vertical and horizontal surfaces.

Recently, commercial builders in Portland have been turning towards All-Protect to protect their elevators. Because All-Protect is adhesive, applying it to cover the inside of their cabs is relatively quick and easy.

Spill-Resistant, Reusable, and Strong - SuperTuff Heavy Duty Rolls Are As Versatile As They Come

Trimaco's SuperTuff Heavy Duty is a do it all surface protection. Concrete slabs, brick, tile, granite, and just about any other solid material can be protected with SuperTuff. SuperTuff is soft to the touch, spill resistant, and can remain in overlapped place without using taped seams.

These rolls are black in color, with a grey felt material layered on top of a durable plastic based membrane. Available in 36" x 100' size, SuperTuff Heavy Duty will cover 300 square feet per roll. Because of it's partially plastic composition, it is a reusable material. Clean it off, pack it up, and save it for the next job.

SuperTuff mats and rolls have been used for a wide variety of applications. They are ideal for preventing oil from cars and trucks staining new driveways, as well as keeping fluids from parked forklifts and scissor lifts from staining new slabs on commercial projects.

Breathability and Floor Protection – Everything You Need to Know

Construction jobsites damage new flooring more often than any other finish. This holds true across both residential custom home projects and large-scale commercial construction projects. Accordingly, it is vital to use surface protection on new floors in order to keep those expensive new floors looking immaculate.

While using surface protection on interior finishes is generally quite easy, there is one very important consideration to make when protecting a new floor – breathability.

Breathable surface protection is a class of materials that do not trap moisture or gas vapors on surfaces while they are being used. Any flooring material that requires time to cure in order to be finished is one in which using surface protection specifically marked for breathability is vital.

Without the ability to breathe and ventilate moisture and gas, surface protection covering a new floor can leave the floor looking scuffed and damaged – despite being otherwise protected from typical jobsite damage. These unsightly blemishes are most commonly known as curing lines, and they form on curing surfaces that are in some way blocked from venting. This is frequently due to leaving solid plastic-based materials on them when they need to breathe.

To solve this problem, a variety of specially designed surface protection coverings are now breathable.

Foremost is Tuf-Guard, an industry leading breathable temporary floor protection. Tuf-Guard is designed with high end concrete and hardwood in mind, great examples of floor finishes that requires time to fully cure. Made from a bespoke synthetic fiber-based material, Tuf-Guard is not only breathable but also slip-resistant. It is an ideal floor protection because not only can it withstand use from heavy machinery, it is also spill resistant. This ensures that the scissor lifts driving on top of Tuf-Guard won’t damage a new floor by dropping equipment onto it or spilling hydraulic fluid and oil onto the protected floor. 

Other breathable floor protection options are available, such as Trimaco’s FloorShell. FloorShell is a popular alternative to RamBoard, both use recycled paper fibers to create a strong floor protection layer. Waterproof Shoe Covers Are Back!

With the onset of meteorological fall upon us, it is only a matter of time until more consistent rain and wet weather is falling on jobsites around the country. With that comes mud, dirt, and other plenty of weather-related ways to mess up flooring.

Polylatex shoe covers are an easy, cheap, and quick way to prevent damage to floors. They are plastic based, which makes them waterproof. This is in contrast to cloth polypropylene shoe covers, most commonly used in medical settings - but not spill resistant. 

Because they are made from durable plastic, these poly shoe covers are reusable, and can even be rinsed off and cleaned for further use. At 9 mils thick, they prove to be quite durable. The material construction of these shoe covers features a diamond plate-like skid resistant bottom, making them unlikely to cause slipping, even if used on wet flooring. An elastic band at the top of each shoe cover ensures a secure fit over boots, even large ones.

Multiple quantities of these shoe covers are available. Large scale builders can opt for a case of 150 pairs, or, if you have a small project/need for them they are also available in bags of 50 and bags of 10 pairs. SuperTuff Is Do-It-All Surface Protection

Finding a material that's soft, strong, and waterproof can be more difficult that expected. Fortunately, Trimaco's SuperTuff is all of the above. 

Made from recycled plastic based bottles, SuperTuff is a synthetic mat that protects both indoor and outdoor floors. SuperTuff is soft to the touch, which ensures that small debris such as screws and splinters won't damage floors as they are being protected. This soft texture makes it slip-resistant and safe to walk on, as well as helping massively with protecting against impact damage. This plastic based material can also be cleaned off for re-use, making SuperTuff a very cost effective surface protection solution.

Because SuperTuff is waterproof, it is a great candidate for outside use. We recently provided it for use on a high-end retaining wall, in which it was subjected to outdoor use for weeks on end - and it worked extremely well in that role. Due to its texture, when used on concrete outside no tape or adhesives are necessary for use.

FloorShell Is the Do-It-All Surface Protection for Floors

The most common floor protection you'll find on a typical jobsite is either going to be builders paper or reinforced fiber products such as FloorShell. Both are cost effective, easy to use and cut to size, and recyclable. However, Floorshell offers so much more protection than paper it is clearly the more worthwhile option.

Each roll of Trimaco's FloorShell measures 38" x 317' - a total of 317 sqft per roll. It is 45 mils thick, which allows it to stand up to heavy machinery as well as dropped tools. We're rolling out our latest floor protection with concrete slabs in mind - Tuf-Guard. While EZ Cover is no longer being manufactured, there is a fantastic breathable concrete protection alternative in Tuf-Guard.  

Tuf-Guard  is a breathable, synthetic based floor protection designed specifically with curing concrete in mind. Because it is breathable, it allows gas vapors (chemical & water based) to depart the freshly laid slab, ensuring that no curing lines or other blemishes are left behind. Tuf-Guard is a strong synthetic material, allowing it to be cleaned and reused a number of times.
