Customers are often reaching out to us in person about protecting all sorts of finishes, no matter how big or seemingly tricky. One common household feature that ticks both of those boxes is stairs. Heaps of great options are available for floors of every type, yet some people believe that few products for stairs exist. Fortunately, two great options are available; Adhesive Felt Max and RamBoard Stair Armor. 

Our new Adhesive Felt Max has proven to be an extremely versatile finish protection. Because it is so good at protecting so many different surfaces, it has become a local hit for protecting stairs among our local custom homebuilders. 

This material has a soft textile top layer bonded to an adhesive plastic base; allowing it to be both soft to the touch and durable all while staying securely in place. Stairs, tubs, countertops, appliances and more are all commonly protected with Adhesive Felt Max protection. Rolls are available in 39" wide by 82' sizes, totaling 267 square feet per roll. 

Another popular option for protecting stairways is RamBoard's Stair Armor. Stair Armor is made from a durable paper based material like RamBoard and many other comparable protection products. This makes it affordable and easy to trim to size if needed. Stair Armor only requires tape for installation (such as 14 Day Edge Tape), and is offered in packs of 6 tread protectors per unit. Stair Armor is 34" wide, ensuring hat no cutting is needed on standard residential staircases.

New Surface Protection Tapes Now Available

We carry a wide array of tapes for a near endless variety of uses and finish protection; however we're always on the lookout for more. As such, we've added a few new tapes for even more finish protection applications. 

14-day Edge Tape is a new RamBoard tape developed with hardwood floors in mind. It is rated for two weeks on hardwood floors, and is designed not to leave residue within that timeframe. This tape is bright orange which serves as a great visual aid to demarcate where floor protection is in place. This tape is 2.5" x 180', and we recommend one roll of tape per 100' of floor protection. 

 

We have also added another green plastic based tape in addition to our popular Clean Green tape. 90-day Edge Tape is a durable, repositionable, plastic tape rated for up to 90 day usage. This is a great option for long term projects and for use on concrete floors, granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances. This tape is available in 1.89" width x 164' length. 

These tapes are ideal for a wide array of surface protection products. Paper based floor protection such as RamBoard, Stair Armor, and variants of builders paper products require tapes for usage on floors and counter tops. Durable, resuable plastic products such as CoverGuard and Tuf-Guard are also both compatible with these tapes in applications for hardwood and concrete.

Introducing Sheltex-14 Adhesive Felt; Protection for Stairs, Tubs, Floors, and More!

We're committed to providing our customers with the widest possible array of finish protection solutions, dust control products, and just about anything else we feel can help out on the jobsite - whether commercial or residential. To that aim, we're always excited to introduce new products for people to try on their jobsites. Today, we're happy to be bringing Sheltex-14 MAX adhesive felt to our product line. 

Sheltex-14 is a soft, fiber-based adhesive surface protection designed with a wide array of finishes and applications in mind. With its adhesive base layer, Sheltex-14 can be applied to finishes vertically, as well as used to securely remain in place horizontally on floors and countertops. Because of this versatility, Sheltex-14 can even be used on stairs - one of the trickiest interior finishes to protect. 

So far we've seen Sheltex-14 used in elevator cabs, secured around handrails, on stairs, covering furniture and other wood fixtures, and as a soft, secure hardwood floor protection. Because it can easily be cut to specific size, Sheltex can be used for specialized applications such as custom tubs/showerpans and on high-end stainless steel furnishings.  

Each roll is 39" wide and 82' long, totaling 267 square feet per roll. Sheltex is available individually on our website, or by the pallet of 15 via custom quote.

90 Day RamBoard Edge Tape Now Available

We carry a wide array of tapes, meant to cover metal thresholds and jambs, create dust barriers with two sided adhesion, and even provide flame resistant seals for floor protection - and we're always looking out for more tapes to provide. Now, we're excited to announce that we carry RamBoard's new 90 Day Edge Tape. 

90 Day Edge Tape is a plastic tape that is strong enough to be repositionable, and placed for up to 90 days without wearing down or allowing adhesive transfer. The woven plastic texture allows the tape to be town to size without any tools - no cutting needed. This tape is ideal for paper based floor protection products such as RamBoard, White-Top Paper, and X-board. 

Each roll of tape is 1.89" wide by 164' feet long. We recommend using a rule of thumb of one roll of Edge Tape per roll of standard RamBoard (100'). Rolls are sold individually or by case of 24.

Wildfire Smoke? Use An Air Scrubber from Builders Site Protection

Here in Central Oregon it is officially our least favorite time of year - wildfire smoke season. As summer comes to a close, we typically see worsening air quality. However bad the air may be, solving the problem with Air Scrubbers is an easy solution to this irritating problem.

New ZipDoor Magnetic Door Kits Now Available

 ZipDoors have long been the easiest to use entry solution for interior dust control. Standard ZipDoors feature a tried and true zipper system for sealing the doorway. While popular, the drawback to this system is that you need a free hand to operate the zippers on the door panel. 

Now, ZipWall has created a new ZipDoor Magnetic Kit, which is easier to use than ever before.

 

 

These new kits include one main door panel with inlaid magnets measuring 48" x 87", three rolls of double sided tape for installation and integration with other dust control products, and one sheeting cutter for seamless install.

Keep Your Floors Clean This Snow Season With Waterproof Shoe Covers

Here in Central Oregon we're deep into winter weather. Alternating periods of deep snow and warm rain have combined to create exceptionally wet conditions on jobsites and around town. Constant snowmelt has led to water and mud - particularly in construction environments. 

Wet conditions lead to wet floors, and wet floors can cause finish damage. Fortunately, an easy to use and low cost solution is available; Shoe Covers.

Polyproylene Shoe Covers are our most cost effective waterpoof shoe covers. These plastic based covers feature an elastic band at the top which ensures a secure fitment to boots, even when trudging through water and mud. The polyprolylene material is enhanced with a diamond-plate like construction which offers skid resistance on wet floors, making these a safer alternative to smooth plastic covers. 

Shoe Covers are commonly provided by contractors to homeowners and tradesmen alike. Many of our customers will place a case of these shoe covers at the front door of a home for all entrants to use, since shoe covers are such a worthwhile method in which to prevent muddy, dirty, and damaged floors. Furthermore, prospective home buyers are typically impressed with builders' attention to detail when floors are being properly protected by providing shoe covers.

One Year Window Film Now Available

Windows are often installed early, and need long-term protection. Because windows can be custom shaped, or arranged in any number of ways, protection that is bespoke to a window arrangement is ideal for many projects. 

Given these surface protection demands for windows, it makes a lot of sense to use long term and cost-effective surface protection on them. For this, we now offer 12 month/ year long Window Film.

Our new blue Window Film has been created with a durable formulation for 12 month use. UV resistant compounds have been added to the film in order to make it durable enough to stand up to 12 months of outdoor conditions. This acrylic based film stands up to water, dust, and any other common contaminant without leaving any residue behind. It is 3 mils thick, which puts it on par with any other films on the market.

This 12 month window film is offered in one size, 24" by 330', totaling 660 square feet per roll. This item is in stock on our website, and ships within one business day.

Have Your Custom Logo Featured On ProVent Register Covers

Among many benefits benefits of using Surface Protection is showcasing to homeowners or potential customers that you care about the finishes in a home as much as they do. Protecting floors, cabinets, doors, etc... is synonymous with build quality - after all, why bother protecting something poorly built? 

A great way to further this surface protection benefit is to feature your own custom logo on the protective materials. Now, one of the most common products to add custom branding to is ProVent.

ProVent is an easy to use solution for keeping dirt, debris, and other common construction contaminants out of floor ductwork. Featuring mesh-lined cutouts which air can pass through, ProVent allows for the operation of heating systems while installed and protected. Furthermore, ProVent meets OSHA standards for covering openings on walking surfaces. 

ProVent features pre-drilled mounting holes for installation, with builtin locator pins. This simple system allows ProVent to be easily drilled into subflooring for long-lasting, secure vent protection. At job's end, ProVent can be rinsed off with water and reused in future projects.

Custom ProVent is offered in minimum quantities of 100 units per order. For quantities less than 100, we offer standard ProVent with our Builders Site Protection logo on them in cases of 50, as well as boxes of 25 and packs of 10. 

 

After ordering Custom ProVent, we will need to be provided with the desired logo in question. When we have received that, we will have proofs made by the printer. Once the proof is signed off on, the printing process typically takes 4 to 6 weeks.

Window Film Is A Great Solution For Protecting Custom Glass Doors

It is increasingly common in custom homes to feature custom made, ornate glass doors for high traffic entryways. These doors look incredible, allow heaps of natural light in, and act as both interior and exterior design flourishes.

Custom Cabinet Armor Now Available

We are excited to announce that we have begun processing orders for custom printed Cabinet Armor. This new cabinet surface protection has proven to be extremely popular with builders, and with the availability of custom printing options we expect it to become even more well-liked by homebuilders and commercial contractors.

Cabinet Armor is a breathable barrier that protects cabinets from a wide array of standard jobsite damage and blemishes. It measures 32" in height, and 60 linear feet. Perforations are featured every 16 inches, making installation quick and reducing the amount of cutting and trimming required. 

Featuring a built-in adhesive strip, Cabinet Armor requires no additional tape, adhesives, or tools to ensure quick installation. The adhesive strip is backed with a removable liner, thereby ensuring that the cabinet armor only attaches exactly where you want it to. The adhesive strip is comparable to a standard painters masking tape, and is designed not to impact any dried paint, cured finishes, or granite countertops.

The minimum order quantity for a custom run of Cabinet Armor is 25 rolls, with a margin of one roll more or less (meaning that an order of 25 rolls may become 24 or 26 rolls). Custom printing is done in one color - black - and the typical lead time to print the material is four weeks plus shipping. Companies' logos, slogans, and contact information can all be included in the custom printing.

To schedule a custom run of printing, reach out to us via email or phone. From that point, we'll collect the information needed for the custom printing run, and create a proof to be signed off on. Once that proof is approved by the customer, the production process begins.

There is a one-time fee to create a custom printing plate, but once the printing plate has been made, there is no additional fee for future custom orders. All that's needed to start customizing Cabinet Armor is a digital file with what you would like printed!

Protect Thresholds and Jambs This Winter

We recently detailed some of the affordable and easy-to-use floor protection products that help with preventing common wintertime damage to floors. Those items included Walk-off Mats, Shoe Covers, and many other types of roll-out floor protection. 

This week, we're taking a quick look at protecting doors and thresholds from wintertime damage - and especially important task given everything comes and goes through entryways. Fortunately, protecting threshold and jambs is an easy task. 

UV Threshold Tape is the most cost effective threshold protection on the market. Rated for 180 day outdoor use, UV Threshold Tape holds up to six months of use - even in direct outdoor sunlight. The 4" width of the roll makes application quick on standard thresholds, and the 180 linear feet means that one roll is sufficient to protect every threshold on multiple homes. Rolls are sold individually or with a  discount by the case of 12.

 

 

Once thresholds have been covered with tape, jambs are next in line to be protected. Fortunately, Jambs are as easy to protect as thresholds. 

RamJam Doorjamb covers are reusable snap-on covers that stay attached to jambs with no need for tapes or adhesives. They can attach to most jambs between 4 and 9 inches wide. At 60" tall, RamJambs cover the majority of a doorjamb, and focus protection on the most damage-prone heights of a jamb.

Walk-off Mats and Shoe Covers Keep Floors Clean & Dry In Winter

The arrival of winter also heralds the arrival of wet weather. Rain, snow, and sleet create mud and often find their way into the floors of homes under construction. Keeping floors clean and dry not only protects finishes in a home, prevention also leads to saving time cleaning. Numerous affordable and easy to use methods are available to keep water and mud out of homes.

Walk-off Mats are among the easiest ways to keep mud and water off of new floors. Laying flat on the ground in front of entryways - these adhesive mats feature removable pages that capture and remove the dirt and debris from the bottom of work boots. Sturdy plastic bases keep the mats in place, and the adhesive pages can be replaced with refill packs. At a size of 24" x 36", these walk-off mats are in essence welcome mats for jobsites.

 

Once the adhesive mats have been used, Shoe Covers are an extremely cost effective second step to protect floors.
